Project Description

Safari Description

Situated in the game rich, southern section of the world renowned Kruger National Park, bounded by 3 major river systems, the extensive 15 000 hectare area offers a diverse array of habitats. The vast grasslands dominate the northern portion, whereas the southern and central areas are more heavily wooded and interspersed with lush riverine thickets. A Kruger Safari is one of Africa’s greatest experiences and definitely worth every cent.

This safari takes place in the Greater Kruger National Park which runs along the unfenced western border of the Kruger National Park and offers the same excellent African safari experience as the game is able to flow freely through the bush into these areas.

We leave Johannesburg from O. R. Tambo International Airport at 06:45 am and head north towards the vast wilderness of the Kruger National Park and the safari hub of Hoedspruit, where a short while later we will arrive at the Greater Kruger National Park Entrance Gate and you’ll climb aboard open safari vehicles for the short drive through the reserve to the lodge. Check in, freshen up, enjoy some lunch and prepare for your afternoon game drive starting around 3:30 pm (winter) OR 4:30 pm (summer). Home to the ‘Big Five’ as well as 147 species of mammals, reptiles and birds, prepare for an amazing experience. Using all their senses & experience, your Ranger will seek out the animals and stop for anything of interest, possibly the spoor of hunting lions or a herd of dazzling zebras. Sunset time is enjoyed on a vantage point with some sundowners and snacks, before we change into night mode and using flashlights, search for the secretive nocturnal creatures of the bush like a sleek genet or unforgettable view of a leopard. Upon returning to the Lodge, a blazing fire and yummy dinner awaits, along with your first night’s sleep in the wild and untamed African bush.
Your Ranger will awake you with coffee, tea and rusks before heading out into the sunrise to see what has been happening in the dead of night and follow spoor of animals on the move. You will also be lead on foot to discover sights which you would miss from a vehicle. Vervet monkeys, birds in song, this truly is a beautiful way to bring on a new day in South Africa. After your game activity you will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious, hearty breakfast before returning to the entrance gate for you return shuttle pick up at 11:00 am. Leave the park and travel back to Johannesburg, arriving at around 6:00 pm.
Private Lodge / Private Bush Camp
Please note that this is a shuttle service and not a private transfer service. You will be sharing the transfer with other passengers in a 13 seater Toyota Quantum. Pick up and drop off times are fixed and cannot be changed to suit your own arrangements. The shuttle takes a direct route with only a couple of brief drink and toilet stops along the way on your 5 hour journey to the Kruger area.

Should you have more than 2 days available, we advise taking a longer safari which will allow for more time to relax, spot our numerous animals large & small, thus enjoying a more immersive bush experience!

“We found the lodge to be stunning and extremely comfortable, but most importantly very intimate. We loved small group feel which allowed us to interact with the very experienced tracking team and see beautiful wildlife without having to climb over crowds of other tourists. Your staff was friendly, very professional, and blew us away with their genuine interest in their gusts and attending to their needs. We hope to return and stay for a few more nights!”

“We absolutely loved the Safari experience, way beyond our expectation. The lodge staff was really warm and friendly, with high attention to detail with the food, cleanliness and our overall comfort. The drives are truly something unique to experience, especially if you´re not used to the wildlife. I 200% recommend anyone to take the tour. Last but not least I want to highlight African Blue Tour´s outstanding service.
Thank you for everything David! All the best!”

“Yes, I am happy to share our experiences! The drivers were helpful and timely, with both transfer to and from the park being extremely seamless. I cannot stress how happy we were with the Safari Camp. Everyone was lovely to work with, from the moment we were picked up by Andrea, she pointed out animals on the ride to the lodge, we were greeted with a welcome cocktail and the most beautiful accommodations. The meals and service were fantastic! We loved every minute of both of our drives, Kevin and Themba were excellent drivers and trackers, showing us lions, elephants, zebras, crocodiles and so much more! Our only complaint was that we didn’t book a longer tour!
Thanks for your help in facilitating all of this, we’ve definitely be recommending you to all of our friends!”

Fanstatic! I made a very last minute request (decided I wanted to see some animals whilst on a business trip in South Africa) and African Blue took care of everything. I contacted multiple people and they were one of the only people to get back to me. They organised the whole thing for me from start to finish (transport there and back, game drives at various points in the day, all food & charges), which took all of the hassle away for me. When I asked questions they replied very quickly. The safari guide that I had was incredible – I saw Lion, Buffalo, Black Rhino, Elephant, Zebra, Giraffe and more all in one day. Thoroughly worth it.

I wanted to book a quick two-day safari experience for the beginning of my trip to South Africa, and African Blue / David Smith came highly recommended to me by a close friend. David was extremely responsive and easy to reach, and was able to organize a wonderful two-day safari experience. He even upgraded my accommodations in Kruger National Park because the temperature happened to be unusually cold on the day I was to embark. The reserve was phenomenal and the staff was highly knowledgeable and hospitable. I would recommend this outfit to anyone looking to book outings in South Africa.
