Meet David Smith
I am one of the lucky few to have grown up and still live in the beautiful suburb of Camps Bay, only 5 minutes from the city centre of Cape Town.
I joined the tourism industry in 1996 when we converted our family home and started hosting visiting tourists … it is here where the seed was planted for my career in tourism.
With my passion for the tourism industry and personal adventures throughout Southern Africa, it was a no brainer for me to start African Blue Tours in 2001 and I have not looked back since.
We aim to provide a professional yet relaxing and friendly touring experience for our valued clients and do so with my full trust in our hand picked, experienced tourist guides from all over the country. Although my days are now mostly spent in the office advising potential clients of how best to maximise their visit to our shores, I do still get to enjoy the odd day outdoors guiding my clients around this magnificent, vibrant, rainbow nation we call South Africa.

We did 4 private tours with African Blue Tours organized by David Smith and his team:
1) City tour of Cape Town and Table Mountain
2) Wineland Tour
3) Addo Elephant Park (to/from Port Elizabeth)
4) Johannesburg, including Apartheid Museum
All tours and guides were excellent. David was very responsive and knowledgable when we planned the tours beforehand. We had a wonderful experience and we do appreciate the excellent job David`s Team did.
Well done & Thank you.

We enjoyed a half day tour of the Cape Peninsula with Duncan (organised with David) and we were very impressed with the service provided and the tour.
Our tour was originally scheduled to be a full day tour, but due to bad weather the day before a trip that we had arranged to Robben Island was cancelled. We contacted David who was able to change our arrangements at short notice so that we could do a half day tour and still do our trip to Robben Island.
We were met from the boat after the Robben Island trip and taken in a very comfortable vehicle around the Cape Peninsula. We opted for a private tour and this was worth the extra cost to make it a truly personal experience. Our guide Duncan was very friendly and knowledgeable and had organised a fabulous lunch for us to get the tour underway. From there we saw all of the sights we hoped to see in the Peninsula and plenty of wildlife too. Duncan answered all of our questions and provided lots of other useful info as well as being on hand to take pictures for us at these wonderful locations. We found this a great way to see the Peninsula and would happily recommend.

A wonderful day tour of the Peninsula from Cape Town to Cape Point with a most engaging guide. Up close and personal with penguins, whales, baboons, red-winged starlings, and David himself.
By late afternoon when the tour was finishing up, he had us feeling more like long-lost uncles than clients. One of the major highlights of our recent month-long tour of southern and central Africa.
“David, tour guide above all !!”

David took a group of 8 of us on a shark dive and Cape peninsula tour in mid-September that was destined to be doomed from the get go.
Weather indicated there would be rough tides and everything looked like all things wouldn’t happen.
David did such a good job with arranging all activities associated with the tour. He was very engaged (even before we reached to SA) and kept us abreast to all matters that had to do with the dive. Even after our original tour was cancelled he made a special effort to arrange another tour for us. Trust me when i say, you will be well taken care of. He is very knowledgeable of the area and the history and you will not be short changed. Highly recommended!!
