Safari Description

An affordable 5 day Kruger Safari exploring both the Greater Kruger and the Satara region within Kruger National Park, including a quick visit to Blyde River Canyon on the Panorama Route before returning to Johannesburg. The safari lodge is based in the Greater Kruger National Park which runs along the unfenced western border of the Kruger National Park and offers the same excellent African safari experience as the game is able to flow freely through the bush into these areas.

We collect from most hotels, guest houses, private homes or OR Tambo Airport and drive in an air-conditioned vehicle via the Highveld farmlands to the picturesque Lowveld and your Private Lodge in the Great Kruger National Park. You may rest in your air-conditioned chalet, have a quick refreshing dip in the pool, unwind at the bar or relax in the beautiful gardens. At around 17h00 we board the open Landcruiser for an exciting Big Five Sunset Drive. Your qualified guide will facilitate your first thrilling opportunity to experience the varied African fauna and flora. Watch the magnificent African sunset, and after darkness falls, use powerful spotlights to locate nocturnal animals.
Awaken at sunrise for an exhilarating day of unforgettable bush life. Drive to a remote venue, where you enjoy a 4h “ walk in the wild ”. Your experienced field guides will lead you through the bush at a pace you can handle in search of the Big Five. The thrill of following Africa’s large animals until you are close enough to take a decent photo will remain with you forever. Adrenalin surges will be acute, notwithstanding the fact that your rangers are adequately armed in case of danger. Return to Tremisana for brunch. Later you may sleep in your air conditioned chalet or swim in the pool. Our Lapa has extensive wildlife magazines. Visit the game viewing Hide overlooking Tremisana Dam.A light lunch will be served and at around 15h30 we go on a 4 h game drive on Balule Big 5 Game Reserve. On the game drive your rangers will be in radio contact so as to keep us informed of the movements of the game. We stop for Sundowners at a magnificent location and toast the splendour of Africa. Return to Tremisana at around 19h30.
Today we explore the Kruger National Park in a custom-built open-sided vehicle which allows for a total wildlife experience – you will not only have time to view game, but also to listen to and smell the African bush and its denizens. The absence of windows and elevated position allow for excellent photographic opportunities. The Orpen/Satara region of the park has the greatest concentration of animals in the whole of Kruger with sightings of the Big Five virtually guaranteed. You will have a great day of game-viewing and bird-watching in this truly outstanding wildlife paradise. Each day spent in the African bush presents new sightings, incredible encounters and no two days are ever the same making a safari such a rewarding experience.
Today we enjoy a morning tour of the Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for injured and orphaned animals and birds. You will have an opportunity to get close and personal to some of the residents, including lions and leopards. After that, we will return to our lodge for a light lunch. At around 15h00 we drive to Motlala Game Reserve for a 3 h game drive in this enclosed reserve where our chances of seeing rhino, buffalo and leopard are high, among other animals and birds.
Enjoy an early morning one hour Sunrise Drive on the open Land cruiser for your last chance to spot game and then after a hearty breakfast, we depart for a quick detour along the famous Panorama Route visiting the awesome Blyde River Canyon and Three Rondawels (09:30 – 10:00am). We return to Johannesburg in the late afternoon, starting with drop offs around OR Tambo Airport and then onto other areas as listed in “Please Note” below.
Chalet in a Private 3 star Lodge, which has simple furnishings. This is not a luxury safari camp, but a good budget friendly option with emphasis on game viewing. There are no drinks included in this package and the lodge runs a cash bar so please make sure you have enough cash available for your stay.
