Situated adjacent to the restaurant is the newly built Aquila Lodge, comprising 3 levels, accessible by a glass panelled lift with magnificent Karoo vistas, with 22 units facing the reserve and the mountains and another 22 rooms facing away from the reserve.
Premier Lodge Rooms have large balconies overlooking the reserve. Full bathrooms with separate showers and views from the baths. 2 x twins beds which can be made up to Queen size beds.
Standard Lodge Rooms have twin beds which can be made up to Queen size beds, they look away from the reserve and have a shower en suite.

In keeping with the design and flow of the architecture at Aquila, the Luxury Cottages do not compromise the experience nor standard. Each has its own patio, corner bath and outdoor rock shower. Cottages are equipped with mini bars (on request), fans and feature “coal‟ stoves for that extra bit of warmth and cosiness in the colder months.

The Premier Cottages are positioned on the hillside to offer privacy and have been built in harmony with the rock, which is a principle focal point in the large bathrooms and alfresco showers. They are constructed from wood, stone and thatch and feature fans, air conditioners and fireplaces. Each en-suite bathroom is unique, with twin hand basins, bath and toilet. The cottages offer a wooden deck with panoramic views across the expanse of the reserve. The Honeymoon Suite (the jewel in Aquila’s crown) boasts a private alfresco Jacuzzi.

The Family Luxury Cottages (4 & 8 sleeper versions) are semi-detached with attention paid to privacy. Units are equipped with mini bars (on request), tea and coffee making facilities and feature indoor fireplaces for that extra bit of warmth and cosiness in the colder months. They are under thatch and feature exterior stone work using raw materials from the area. The large en-suite bathrooms feature corner baths with outdoor showers.

Highly recommended:
Take advantage of heading through our beautiful Cape Winelands by upgrading to Private transfers which will allow for a later start to the day, travelling over scenic mountain passes, optional wine tastings and exploring the villages of Wellington, Tulbagh, Franschhoek, Paarl & Stellenbosch to name a few.
Private transfers can be provided at an additional cost:
R 8 000 per vehicle (1-3 persons)
R 9 600 per vehicle (4-6 persons)
R 11 600 per vehicle (7-13 persons)

All transfer rates are inclusive of both directions.

All safari options close to Cape Town are in newly established private game reserves and cannot be compared to a safari in a more established game viewing area like Kruger National Park which has been around for a hundred or so years. These options fill a very important role in the safari market by offering those persons who have never been on safari and who do not have the time to visit a more established reserve the chance to view Africa’s wild animals sometimes for the first time.

This is a affiliate company product so the return road transfers are not always operated by African Blue Tours.

We got really close to the lions, elephants, rhinos and more. We got down half way through the game drive, had champagne and dried fruits, nuts platter while watching the elephants moving past. The cottage comes with own patio and an outdoor rock shower, which was pretty cool. David is fast in all correspondences, he was replying to us even he is out of office for the New Year.

We booked a private tour to the Aquila safari and Duncan is our tour guide and driver. He’s very friendly and careful driver. Throughout the trip we are very satisfied and would definitely choose this tour again for the next visit.

“fun time at Aquila Game Reserve”

Thanks to David, who not only organized the trip to Aquila Reserve on a short term but also helped us finding a great appartment in Camps Bay, we really had a great time at the Reserve. We booked the self-drive Safari and as David promised it was really easy to find. Rooms where nice, our family cottage was quite big and we had enough time to relax and ejoy the view over the Karoo from the terrace. On our two game drives we saw all the Big 5 and our guide was very informative and funny as well. Unless Aquila is nothing like Krueger Park it is really an outdoor safari experience rather than a visit at the Zoo.
