On Friday I was lucky enough to visit the Winelands for the first time. I accompanied some guests and clients from The Bay Atlantic Guest House on a private Full Day Winelands Tour and really enjoyed myself. You might be surprised to hear, I dont actually like wine.. Give me the whitest and sweetest wine you have and then I’ll drink it. I’m more of the cocktail type!
Our first stop for the day was the well-known Fairview Wine Estate in Paarl, where we enjoyed a wonderful wine tasting as well as a cheese tasting! Fairview also has a deli where you can buy a wide range of cheeses and other delicious things! I left there with home-made Pecan Nut & Cranberry Syrup (with fruit and nut pieces!)
Lunch was enjoyed at the quiant Alle Blue restaurant in Franshhoek where the menu is written on a chalk board and propped up next to your table! The atmosphere was made complete with the sounds of the rustling leaves from the rows and rows of trees planted next to the lane.
That afternoon we embarked on a driving tour of Stellenbosch and our day ended with a stop at the Spier Wine Estate to have a look at some of the animals. For one of our client’s, it was their first time seeing a Zebra!
Here are some of the photos I took while in the Winelands..
